Becoming a member of the Sekishin Karate Jutsu International is easy.

Rights
1. Every member of the SKJI has the right to be taken into account regarding rank advancement as long as he or she is in compliance with the requirements for rank advancement.
2. Every member of the SKJI has the right to promote his or her martial activities on the SKJI ‘s web site and the annual newsletter.
3. Every member of the SKJI will receive a certification of rank from the SKJI.
Requirements
1. Every member of the SKJI has to properly document his or her training and rank history.
2. Contribute with content for the annual newsletter and the website.
3. Recommend candidates for membership in the SKJI.
In order to come into consideration for rank advancement, the following requisites will have to be met:
1st dan
A minimum of 18 years of age and 5 years of continuous practice.
1 year as a 1st kyu. The candidate's knowledge and physical ability must be an par with the rank he holds.
Must be able to perform SKJI's technical curriculum to that grade.
2nd dan
A minimum of 18 years of age and 10 years of continuous practice.
2 years as a 2nd Dan. The candidate's knowledge and physical ability must be an par with the rank he holds.
Must be able to perform SKJI's technical curriculum to that grade.
3rd dan
A minimum of 25 years of age and 12 years of continuous practice.
2 years as a 2nd Dan. The candidate's knowledge and physical ability must be an par with the rank he holds.
Must be able to perform SKJI's technical curriculum to that grade.
4th dan
A minimum of 30 years of age and 15 years of continuous practice.
3 years as a 3th Dan.
The candidate's knowledge and physical ability must be an par with the rank he holds. This will be demonstrated by the presentation before the Shihan Kai of a written paper concerning any facet of Karate Do, be it technical, methodological or philosophical.
Any candidate aspiring to the rank of 4th dan must have a proven track record of service to his or her Dojo or Ryu, have assisted in the development of his or her students to a level of 1st Dan, and/or have published work on any aspect of Karate Do.
5th dan
A minimum of 30 years of age and 20 years of continuous practice.
4 years as a 4th Dan.
The candidate's knowledge and physical ability must be an par with the rank he holds. This will be demonstrated by the presentation before the Shihan Kai of a written paper concerning any facet of Karate Do, be it technical, methodological or philosophical.
Any candidate aspiring to the rank of 5th dan must have a proven track record of service to his or her Dojo or Ryu, have assisted in the development of his or her students to a level of 1st Dan, and/or have published work on any aspect of Karate Do.
6th dan
A minimum of 35 years of age and 25 years of continuous practice.
4 years as a 5th Dan.
The candidate's knowledge and physical ability must be an par with the rank he holds. This will be demonstrated by the presentation before the Shihan Kai of a written paper concerning any facet of Karate Do, be it technical, methodological or philosophical.
Any candidate aspiring to the rank of 6th dan must have a proven track record of service to his or her Dojo or Ryu, have assisted in the development of his or her students to a level of 3rd Dan, and/or have published work on any aspect of Karate Do.
7th dan
A minimum of 45 years of age and 30 years of continuous practice.
5 years as a 6th Dan.
The candidate's knowledge and physical ability must be an par with the rank he holds. This will be demonstrated by the presentation before the Shihan Kai of a written paper concerning any facet of Karate Do, be it technical, methodological or philosophical.
Any candidate aspiring to the rank of 7th dan must have a proven track record of service to his or her Dojo or Ryu, have assisted in the development of his or her students to a level of 4th Dan or over, and/or have published work on any aspect of Karate Do.
8th dan
A minimum of 50 years of age and 35 years of continuous practice.
5 years as a 7th Dan.
